This photo shows a typical front yard in Cofradia-a weak fence bordering the dusty street, backed by a chaotic tangle of undergrowth and shriveled shrubbery, here and there an edible plant trying to thrive in the almost intolerable heat. There is no real concern for neatness or any sense of order with this yard; rather, like so many aspects of life in this town, it is left to do its own thing without much interference.
