An excursion to Tuscany!

Tuscany in Springtime?
Guess again, intrepid travelers! These are photos of Santa Lucia, a well-preserved colonial gem about fifteen miles outside of the capital city of Tegucigalpa. The copper-colored slate roofs, serpentine cobblestone streets, and imposing colonial church are reminiscent of San Gimignano or Assisi. The town has a couple of well-appointed luxury hotels in its vicinity, bolstering its rep as a playground for the Tegus elite. Real estate prices here are some of the highest anywhere in Honduras, so it will never be on the receiving end of a large-scale peasant migration. It was a cold, windy day when we passed through Santa Lucia, and we only saw a few other tourists, who looked like grungy backpacker types.
